There is nothing quite as sweet as a wedding, and giving gifts could prove to be rather tricky. Do you give cash, or a kitchen appliance? I think that there is one gift which is always on the safe side, that is, cold hard cash, but unfortunately, it might not be that memorable to the couple. Why not have them say “I do” at the altar, while you say the same to Leica with a cusom Leica M7 or MP rangefinder camera as the perfect wedding present? Leica à la carte cameras are now made available to those who love choices – considering there are a possible 4,000 plus combinations of designs and features for you to choose from. You can also have custom engraving of congratulatory messages, bride and groom signatures, monograms, wedding dates and even family crests, turning this into a piece of art that is worth keeping as a family heirloom. You will be able to choose from a couple of classic M-System analog models, and they are the M7 and MP. The gift will not come cheap though – we are talking about a starting price of $4,995 upwards.

THIS DRAGON WAS PINK AND I HAD NEVER SEEN A PINK DRAGON BEFORE. THERE WAS A LION DANCE, NOT JUST PRANCING ON TERRA FIRMA BUT ON POLES SINCE THE TROUPE WAS A CHAMPION AND A DRAGON DANCE WITH WAS A MORE ELABORATE AND COSTLY AFFAIR AS MORE PEOPLE WERE INVOLVED TO CARRY OUT THE DRAGON'S SINUOUS AND COILING MOVEMENTS. REMINDS ME OF PLU WHICH IS HIGH TIME AS A PINK DRAGON STANDS OUR SINCE ALL THE DRAGONS I HAD SEEN WERE EITHER RED OR GOLD OR A COMBINATION. 30 am, the sun was hot as it always burns just before Chinese New Year which is an auspicious sign of yang (male) energy, the emcee invited Soren Ravn, the handsome and sexy Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia to stand atop the stage,... 1936 Leica III: Shelf Queen or User ?
I recently picked up the little Leica III with nickel finish including the 50mm Summar lens and leather case, also included was a import card with serial numbers for both the lens and camera body from E. Leitz, London England dated 1936. Although its not a particularly rare camera in anyway, it's just your usual run of the mill 1930's Leica, no gold plating on this one . it's also not "brand new" like out of the box nor do I have the original box, but others have said it is in... I don't know a whole lot about the history of the camera, I bought it at a used camera store and was told that the camera had been brought in by the granddaughter of the original owner. I have had it recently CLA'd so it operates as good as it looks. I am intrigued to know who owned it and how did he keep in such good condition all these years....
Why I Don't Own an iPad 4, or, Libidinal Confessions of a Late Adopter
But junk boxes all too easily can became junk basements, junk garages and junk barns, and well, a junked-up life. I got my 1945 Leica IIIc camera in 1965, my 1946 Hallicrafters SX-25 shortwave receiver in 1966, and my 1956 Buick Super in 1970. * True, a few categories of old things become more expensive rather than cheaper with age, and in a future post I will tell all I know about the charms of rare books, the darker side of rare coins, and other variations of tulip bulb madness. Sometimes a newer product simply works better and/or more efficiently than an older one (and sometimes a cigar is just a cigar). As one who enjoys, but doesn't fetishize, fountain pens, attachment to the old can similarly be just as shallow as attachment to the new. Nikon Goes Mirrorless with the ‘1′ System
It is half the size of a Micro Four Thirds sensor, and roughly four times the size of a regular compact camera sensor. Currently consisting of two bodies and three lenses, the system will soon include an adapter to allow the use of Nikon F-mount SLR lenses. Nikon has at last gotten in on the mirrorless camera game with the launch of the “Nikon 1″ range. There are two bodies, the smaller J1 and the fancier V1. The J1 is a tiny thing, barely bigger than a decent compact, and shoots stills at 10fps, video at 1080p, and has a maximum ISO of 3,200. 1MP one-inch sensor into the cameras. One of the best features of large sensors is that they allow photos with a shallow depth of field — pictures where the subject is sharp and the background blurred, for example. First, the most important part: The sensor....
Anyway, Mark from Leica, had a small selection of goodies including an M9 and an X1. We chatted about Here's their web site details: Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony and Leica (surprise. They've a fairly big shop in Old Colwyn in North Wales just off the A55 main route from England into northern Wales. There were certainly lots of satisfied customers on the day. There was a variety of free workshops throughout the day covering a wide range of topics and there were a few special offers. For those of you who don't know Cambrian they are an independent dealership (pretty rare these days in the UK) stocking most major manufacturers of both cameras and accessories. just a day out followed by an overnight stay in Anglesey and some photography thrown in for good measure....
