I didn't buy an external flash until two years after I bought my Nikon D5000 , before that I would just use the on camera flash. I didn't want to spend a lot of money so I went with the cheapest decent quality one I could fine, which was the Metz. I don't have much to compare it to because I have never used the Nikon brand ones that cost twice as much but I am happy with the photos it takes. I primarily use it for taking photos of the family which I don't post here but recently all my facebook profile photos were taken with this flash. I haven't figured out a way to take the flash off the camera yet because I think I need to buy another connector for that but I have some great photos of my daughter using this flash so I am happy with it so far.
Announced in early February, Fujifilm's FinePix HS10 is one of several extended-zoom digicams unveiled at this time. The first Fujifilm camera with a BSI (Back Side Illuminated) CMOS sensor, the HS10 also introduces a number of multi-shot and high-speed shooting modes and sports a one-touch movie record button that enables users to record Full HD (1080p) movie clips with stereo soundtracks.
The SLR-like styling, large size and solid heft of the HS10 will attract potential buyers who want the looks and main features of a DSLR without the price tag and the worry about having to carry a suite of lenses. However, these buyers will need to accept the limitations inherent in this camera - and they're not insubstantial.

The Opteka GS-2 is a ergonomically designed padded grip strap made to fit most Digital SLR cameras. The GS-2 provides a secure, one hand grip to your DSLR camera, stabilizing your shot and alleviating fatigue during extended photo shoots. It attaches via the tripod mount. You may still use a tripod with the strap attached.

Compared to the alternatives, this is the best priced solution out there. I don't use the product the way the photo shows. Instead I drop the bracket down to create a U shape that is open on the top, then mount my camera lens with the mounting plate facing down. This is very stable that way, and still gives me all the maneuverability I need for a shot. I can tighten the knobs to lock in a camera position should I desire, or loosen them sufficiently to give a very smooth pan across all angles. This...

Sony Canada starts selling the Xperia S via their website, still locked ...
When the Xperia S was officially launched a month ago it took a very untraditional route. Usually a carrier would commit to selling a device online and in-store. For whatever reason the Xperia S wanted to be an exclusive at “select” Sony Stores – with an activation only accepted at Rogers. If you couldn’t make it to your local mall to purchase the Xperia S, no worries! Sony has put the device up for sale on their Canadian site for the no-term price of $499.99. However, it’s still locked and “Compatible with the Rogers Network.”

Best scope for $500 or less - THR
Depends what you're main use of the scope with your rifle will be. Hunting, plinking, or target shooting. What distance are you shooting. If hunting what is your longest shot? Is it open fields or a wooded area. But to be on the safe side a 3-9x40 will cover most every thing. I would recommend what I own since I have no experience with other brands. Either a Nikon Monarch, or a Sightron, or a bushmaster. The higher the price the better glass you will get and in optics it makes a big difference....

FORTUNE -- The death of Carroll Shelby last week got me thinking about what race car drivers do after they pull into the pit lane for the last time. Some, like Shelby, have made even bigger names for themselves off-track than on.
Shelby was a consummate promoter and entrepreneur. After winning Le Mans in 1959, he retired from the sport with a heart ailment and dabbled in a variety of ventures. Besides developing the Shelby Cobra and the Shelby Mustang GT350, he lent his name and expertise to Ford ( , Fortune 500 ) and Chrysler for various projects with varying success. And that wasn't all. According to his obituary, he also ran an African safari business, dealt in diamonds, and invested in radio stations, motels, cattle ranches, and restaurants. In his spare time, Shelby founded the Terlingua International Chili Championship in Terlingua, Texas, and his name appears on boxes of Carroll Shelby's Original Texas Brand Chili Preparation
